Over the past year, our female employees have helped themselves, their families, and UNTUCKit through difficult times. Together, they're a powerful force—more than 55 percent of our corporate team and more than half of our managers are female. This International Women's Day, we're celebrating the strong, diverse women who continue to fuel our success as a company.

We asked eight female employees to share the best piece of advice they've ever received from another woman. Here, they share the words and mantras that have propelled their personal success and why they found them impactful.

You are who you surround yourself with.

Pay attention to what you give energy to. Fill yourself up daily with all the things that bring purpose and joy. Your energy is extremely valuable and you have to protect it. What you think, you become, and what you are, you attract!

“Every person you meet has lived an entire life before that moment.” 

My mom told me this, and it's always reminded me of a few things: First, always have empathy for others. Second, value others' experiences and to be open, because you can always learn something new. Third, it reminds me to fully listen and ask questions after. Everyone is smart and experienced in their own right, but that saying reminds me that I don’t know everything and that there’s value in someone else’s point of view. And embracing that can only lead to greater understanding.

This quote is from an Erykah Badu song. To me, it says that we are all on a journey, and as we grow, we learn many of life’s lessons whether it is from something good or bad. We must embrace every step of the way. We take those lessons and we either try again or reflect on what could have been done better. This allows us to manifest, to have a testimony to share with others from our previous or current experiences, and we become rich with knowledge from our life’s lessons.

Best advice I ever received wasn’t in the form of words, but the actions of my mom.

As a single mom of two juggling multiple jobs, she always prioritized time as a family. Work hard and balance your time to be present with your kids because the time goes by way too fast! Oh, and surround yourself with co-workers who are patient and understanding of the craziness happening behind your Zoom!
